Fanaa ho jaaye…
Saw Fanaa today…Let me clarify… This post is not to applaud or criticize the movie…
Movies are made, seen and forgotten.
What stays evergreen are a few words…
And Fanaa definitely had a lot of those memorable words…
The Shayaris, the lyrics… O boy! I guess, I’m still drunk on them!
Coming to think of it, isn’t it wonderful that sometimes just a couplet says all what an entire book wouldn’t convey…
Baithe hai hotho ko see kar,
Pachtayengi aap,
Ishq jaag uthtaa hai aksar,
Aisi khamosi ke baad…
Silence indeed has to be broken before the hurricane of emotions implode within you.
Humse dur jaaoge kaise,
Dilse hume bhulaoge kaise,
Hum to khushbu hai jo saanson me baste hai,
Khud ki saanson ko rok paonge kaise.
Well… again coming to think of it… these couplets very often sound too cliched… But wat the hell… what matters more is the sentiments attached to these gems.
Well… I could go on and on and on about my liking for nice words and lyrics. But let me not ramble more on it…
Mere haath mein tera haath ho…
Saari jannatein mere saath ho…
Tu jo paas ho phir kya yeh jahaa
Tere pyar mein ho jaaun fanaa…
I guess, such words can come easily to one in real life too, provided there’s a Rehan and a Zoonie (pre-interval types!!) for each one of us. So, happy hunting for your Rehans and Zoonies! And then we could as well sing these lines…
Adhoori saans thi dhadkan adhoori thi adhooren ham
Magar ab chaand poora hain falak pe aur ab pooren hain ham…
Magar ab chaand poora hain falak pe aur ab pooren hain ham…
Lolz, come back to earth people! You can imagine yourselves with your respective soulmates later… time for me to call it a night… till my next post, Adios!
Bhool karke bhi humse koi bhool hui ho toh,
Bhool samajhkar use bhula dena,
Lekin bhulana sirf Bhool ko,
Galti se bhi Humein na Bhulana…
Forget me not!!

Thats why i listen to old songs, for their great lyrics. The lyrics of fanaa that you found so great are ordinary compared to those. Look at these lines:
Khuli laton ki chhaon mein khila khila ye roop hai,
Ghata se jaise chhan rahi subah subah ki dhoop hai.
Kisi mein vo kashish kahan jo aap mein huzoor hai,
Mera Dil machal gaya to mera kya kusoor hai
Look at the extreme flattery so beautifully done in the following lines:
Ek cheez kayamat bhi hai, logon se suna karte the,
Tumhe dekh ke maine jaana vo thik kaha karta the.

Hi..
dont watch the movie yet(i rarely watch movie) but its music is superb. It's long time after I find so nice music without any iteam song...everybody is too good here, even salim sulaiman(d programmer of music)
& ya prasoon joshi rocks, with this he proves that he is not only for funky music like RDB...he is very much versatile.
I like these sayeri also esp the last one...too good!!

Dunno about the movie... but these shayaris were nice (although a bit cliched, as you say). It all depends on how you read the poetry... whether it is just another cliche for you or do you really want to go into the words!

Mayank: Yes indeed… old songs have awesome lyrics…
Rose : yup.. Quite something!! Reminds me of the clichéd tagline… Come… fall in love… ;)
$1L>erB@Ck : Thx for dropping by… yup.. fanaa was fine.
Roy : yes, the music was great…
the clairvoyant : Subhan Allah :)
Sudipta Chatterjee : its all about words… nothing else matters! :)

The movie is indeed wonderful..
Muskaan Teri Hoto Se Kabhi Jaye Na, Aansoo Tere Palko Pe Kabhi Aaye Na, Poora Ho Tera Har Khwab, Aur Jo Na Poora ho, Wo Khawab Kabhi Aaye Na....

well...well...well...
what do we have here!
haven't watched the movie... and have no intentions to... i guess it was a 'forbidden fruit' in Gujarat...so that made it special.
WONDERFUL shaayari! You seem to have a lot of budding talent!
And IIM-A seems to be the right place to be!
Let me repeat a few of your lines!
Bhool karke bhi humse koi bhool hui ho toh,
Bhool samajhkar use bhula dena,
Lekin bhulana sirf Bhool ko,
Galti se bhi Humein na Bhulana…
